Frequently-Asked Questions

Not sure if you qualify for membership in the Varsity M Association or looking for other information about our organization? Here are some questions and answers that are typically asked of us.

Q. I was a member of the football team when I was at MU. I played two years but never lettered. Am I eligible for membership?
A. We're sorry, but to be a member of the Varsity M Association you must have earned a letter in a varsity sport or sports medicine.

Q. I am a letterwinner but not a member of the MUAA. Can I still join the Varsity M Association without joining the MUAA?
A. The Varsity M Association does not have separate dues. As a letterwinner, when you join the MUAA, you automatically become a member of the Varsity M Association. By paying one membership fee, you will reap the benefits of both organizations!

Q. I was looking at the list of letterwinners on the alumni-athlete lists online and don't see my name. I played and lettered in tennis in 1978 and '79. How can I get my name on the list?
A. Please contact us with your name (include maiden name if applicable), the sport and years you played, and the years you lettered. We will check University records and make sure your record is updated accurately.

Q. How do I get in touch with my former teammates?
A. Please contact us with your name and contact information and we will check our records to find out if there is contact information available for your teammate. At that point, we will contact that teammate and let him or her know that you are looking for them and provide them with any information you wish us to pass on. There is no charge for this service for our members.

Q. I lost my Varsity M lapel pin. How can I get a replacement?
A. Contact us and include your mailing address and we will be happy to replace it for you.

Q. I lost my varsity ring/letter jacket. Can I get another one?
A. Yes, you may purchase another ring, or letter jacket for that matter. Send an e-mail to Kathy Hamilton at hamiltonk@missouri.edu. Kathy will check your record and provide details about costs for a replacement.

Q. I'm coming to a tailgate this season. Where are they and can I bring my family?
A. Beginning with the 2006 football season, Varsity M tailgates will take place on the north side of the Hearnes Center. Varsity M members may bring family and guests.

Q. I am a member of the Varsity M Association but am not receiving the newsletters. What do I do?
A. Our newsletters typically come out in January, May and September each year. If you're not receiving yours, please contact us with your full name (maiden name if applicable) and current address. We will make sure your record is updated so that you will receive our newsletters again.

Q. Can the Varsity M Association help me get tickets to an athletic event out of town?
A. Unfortunately, no. Call 1-800-CAT-PAWS for all ticket requests, both in and out of town.
